College Counseling

Guiding Every Student to Their Right-Fit Future

At Concord Preparatory School, college counseling is not a checklist—it's a journey. Our expert team partners closely with students and families to ensure every graduate takes the next step with confidence, clarity, and pride. From discovering potential to navigating decisions, we support students with purpose and precision every step of the way.

Personalized, Purpose-Driven Guidance

Concord counselors get to know students beyond transcripts. As faculty mentors, advisors, and residential life leaders, they understand each student's character, interests, strengths, and aspirations. This depth of connection allows our team to guide students toward college choices that are not only competitive, but deeply aligned with who they are.

Our team has decades of experience helping students gain admission to leading institutions across the U.S. and globally—from the Ivy League and top research universities to liberal arts colleges, conservatories, and specialty programs.

Comprehensive Support by Year

Grade 7–8

Our early middle-to-high school bridge begins with identity and interest exploration through our "Connections" curriculum. Students reflect on passions, values, and learning styles that will shape their academic journey.

Grade 9

Focus shifts to academic planning, skill building, and growth mindset. Students begin informal contact with the college office and participate in programs that introduce higher education options.

Grade 10

Students engage in interactive workshops such as mock admissions sessions and interest mapping. They begin compiling early activity profiles and reflecting on what kind of campus culture fits them best.

Grade 11

Formal college counseling begins. Each student is paired with a dedicated college counselor. Together, they:

  • Build a balanced college list

  • Explore majors, careers, and campus life

  • Begin Common App and personal statement writing

  • Review transcript strategy and academic profile

  • Attend workshops with visiting college reps

Grade 12

Seniors work hand-in-hand with counselors on:

  • Finalizing and submitting applications

  • Preparing for interviews

  • Comparing financial aid packages

  • Making the final enrollment decision with family support

Note: Our team remains available throughout the entire decision process—up to May 1 and beyond.

Support for Student-Athletes and Specialized Talents

Approximately 30% of Concord students go on to participate in college athletics, and many more pursue specialized interests such as music, visual and performing arts, research, entrepreneurship, and design. Our college counseling team is well-versed in supporting students across all disciplines.

We offer:

  • NCAA recruitment planning

  • Portfolio preparation for visual and performing arts applicants

  • Audition guidance and conservatory research

  • Advising for pre-professional pathways in fields like engineering, medicine, and business

Our goal is to help students showcase their distinctive strengths in ways that resonate with admissions officers and align with their future ambitions.
