Connections

Helping Students Grow With Intention

At Concord Preparatory School, we believe that personal growth is foundational to academic success. That’s why all students participate in Connections—a required, year-long course designed to help them make the most of their Concord experience, both inside and outside the classroom.

Building Foundations for Life at Concord

Connections supports students during their pivotal transition into high school. From the start, the course focuses on strengthening social-emotional skills, building community, and introducing key habits of mind that contribute to long-term success.

Through small group meetings, discussions, workshops, and guided reflection, students explore:

  • Time and energy management

  • Navigating friendships and social challenges

  • Identifying personal values and setting meaningful goals

  • Study techniques and academic organization

  • Responsible technology use

  • Wellness, sleep, and stress management

A Space for Growth, Reflection, and Belonging

Connections offers a safe and consistent environment where students can pause, ask questions, and build strong relationships with peers and trusted faculty. This program helps students:

  • Cultivate a sense of belonging in the Concord community

  • Develop cultural empathy, especially among international peers

  • Practice open communication and collaboration across backgrounds

Our goal is to ensure that every student is equipped with the confidence, clarity, and resilience to navigate high school with purpose and connection.

Beyond the Classroom: Research & Mentorship

In addition to the core curriculum, students also have the opportunity to participate in exclusive weeklong Connects Research Intensives—special sessions embedded within the school year and led by visiting faculty and scholars, including professors from institutions such as Stanford University and etc. These academic deep dives offer:

  • Exposure to real-world academic research

  • Collaborative, inquiry-based projects

  • Mentorship from top-tier university researchers

These intensives help bridge the gap between high school curiosity and university-level scholarship, preparing students to explore their passions in greater depth.

Led by Faculty Who Care

Connections is taught by experienced, caring faculty members who also serve as advisors, coaches, dorm parents, and role models across campus. Their holistic understanding of each student enables them to offer thoughtful, consistent mentorship throughout the school year.

"Connections invites students to pause, reflect, and ask: What’s going well? What needs to grow? And how can we support that growth together?"
